Nashville Electric Service Power Board appoints new member, chair and vice chair

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville Electric Service (NES) has announced the appointment of new board member Casey Santos, Rob McCabe as new chair of the Electric Power Board and Michael Vandenbergh as the new vice chair.

Santos currently serves as Asurion’s Chief Information Officer and has been with the company since March 2021. Prior to Asurion, she was AllianceBernstein’s Head of Business Process Innovation, Workflow and Automation. Santos began her career at NASA’s Mission Control as a propulsion systems engineer supporting multiple Space Shuttle missions. After NASA, she became an IT consultant for multiple industries like Oil and Gas, Finance, Automotive, and Electronics. Santos holds a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MBA from the Wharton School, and a Master of Arts in International Studies from the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania.

McCabe, who was appointed to the board in 2009, is chairman of Pinnacle Financial Partners. McCabe served as vice chairman of First American Corporation and held several positions with First American National Bank, including President and COO of First American National Bank of East Tennessee, First American National Bank of Knoxville and Executive Vice President of First American National Bank of Nashville. Before his appointment to chair, he served as vice chair of the Electric Power Board and previously served as chair from 2012-2013 and 2017-2018. McCabe holds a Bachelor of Arts and MBA from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.

In addition to Santos and McCabe’s appointments, Vandenbergh will also serve as the new vice chair of the Electric Power Board. Vandenbergh, a distinguished professor of law at Vanderbilt University, directs Vanderbilt’s Climate Change Research Network and also serves as co-director of the law school’s Energy, Environment and Land Use Program.

McCabe, Santos and Vandenbergh will continue to serve with Anne Davis on the Electric Power Board. Electric Power Board members are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the council to serve five-year staggered terms without pay.
